About Christine Ubben, MA, LPCC, LMFT

Founder of North Star Reflections LLC

Finding the right counselor is an important and personal decision. You want someone who feels safe, genuine, and easy to talk to — someone who understands what you’re going through and can also help you see things in a new way.

My approach to therapy is warm, caring, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, sharing openly, and exploring what’s been weighing on you without fear of judgment. Many clients describe me as nurturing, flexible, and easy to talk to, and often share that they feel calmer and more grounded after our sessions.

Clients also frequently tell me that I help them reframe situations in ways that offer new perspective and insight. Together, we look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck and gently explore alternative ways of thinking, responding, and relating — so that change feels both meaningful and manageable.

My approach

I believe that meaningful change happens when people feel both supported and empowered. Counseling with me is not about being told what to do or digging endlessly into the past — it’s about understanding yourself more clearly, gaining perspective, and developing tools that fit your real life.

My style is:

  • Genuine and affirming

  • Supportive and non-judgmental

  • Practical and insight-oriented

  • Flexible and responsive to your needs

Clients often share that they’ve been able to talk about things with me that felt difficult to share elsewhere, especially when they feared being judged. My goal is for counseling to feel like a space where you can think out loud, explore what’s really going on for you, and feel safe being honest — even about the parts that feel messy, confusing, or vulnerable.

Why I do this work

I’m passionate about helping people move through challenges that are keeping them stuck and preventing them from living as their most authentic, fulfilled selves. Throughout my life, I’ve naturally found myself in the role of someone others turn to for support, guidance, and a listening ear — whether friends, coworkers, or acquaintances navigating something difficult.

Over time, that instinct grew into a professional calling. I genuinely enjoy helping people make sense of their experiences, gain new perspective, and reconnect with their own strengths and resilience.

My background

I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and am licensed in the state of Minnesota as both a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Earlier in my career, I also worked in the legal field as a paralegal, which gave me valuable experience in understanding complex situations and the value of collaborative efforts to navigate difficult life circumstances. This background continues to inform how I approach my work — with curiosity, structure, and respect for the many pressures people carry.

While I currently work exclusively with adults, I also have prior experience working with couples and remain very familiar with connection dynamics, communication challenges, and emotional patterns that often show up in relationships and marriages.

What working with me feels like

Counseling with me is:

  • Warm, not intimidating

  • Insightful, but not overwhelming

  • Supportive, not judgmental

  • Focused on growth, not perfection

Some sessions may feel more reflective, while others may focus on problem-solving or skill-building. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you and adjust along the way based on what’s most helpful in your life.

Above all, my hope is that counseling feels like a space where you feel understood, encouraged, and supported in becoming more grounded, confident, and aligned with who you want to be.

A final note

You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just need a willingness to show up and be open to exploring what’s possible.

If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, genuine, and focused on helping you feel more at ease in your everyday life, I’d be honored to work with you.
